FAQ

Here are the most common questions about importing rare and variegated plants from PlantHero, including packaging, phytosanitary documents, import permits, shipping, payment, and after-sales support.

1. How do you pack plants for international shipping?

We pack plants according to their growth stage, size, and shipping method.

For tissue culture seedlings, we use protective packaging to keep the plants stable and reduce damage during transportation. For young plants and mature plants, we use suitable moisture control, plant protection materials, and secure cartons to help the plants arrive in good condition.

Our team has experience preparing rare tropical plants for international shipment, including Alocasia, Monstera, Philodendron, Anthurium, Musa, and other variegated plants.

2. How long does plant export and shipping usually take?

Order preparation time depends on the destination country, required documents, plant quantity, and shipping schedule.

In general, document preparation and export arrangement may take about 1 business week. After shipment, international transit time is usually around 3 to 7 days, depending on the destination and carrier.

PlantHero arranges export shipments twice a month. Customs inspection, weather, flight changes, or local clearance procedures may cause additional delays.

3. Do you provide a phytosanitary certificate?

Yes. For qualified export orders, PlantHero can assist with the phytosanitary certificate issued by the official plant protection authority in China.

A phytosanitary certificate is an important export document for international plant trade. It confirms that the plants have been inspected and meet the relevant phytosanitary requirements for export.

Please tell us your destination country before ordering, so we can check the basic document requirements and confirm whether your order can be arranged with a phytosanitary certificate.

4. Do I need an import permit?

In many countries and regions, buyers need an import permit before importing live plants, tissue culture plants, young plants, or mature plants.

PlantHero can support the China export side, including plant preparation, export documents, and shipment coordination. However, buyers are responsible for checking and following the import regulations in their own country or region.

Before placing an order, we recommend confirming the following with your local authority or customs broker:

  • Whether an import permit is required

  • Which plant species are allowed to import

  • Whether tissue culture plants and potted plants have different requirements

  • Whether additional documents are needed for customs clearance

If the buyer does not prepare the required import permit or local documents, the shipment may be delayed, returned, seized, or destroyed by customs.

5. Can small orders be shipped by express?

Yes, small orders may be shipped by international express, such as DHL, depending on the destination country and plant type.

Express shipping may be faster and more flexible for small quantities, especially for tissue culture seedlings or selected young plants. However, import rules are different in each country, and express shipments may still be checked by customs.

Please understand that if a small express shipment is sent without the required import permit or official documents, the buyer needs to accept the related customs risk.

For wholesale and regular import orders, we recommend using a more formal export arrangement with proper documentation.

6. What is your minimum order amount for wholesale?

Our wholesale order minimum is usually USD 1,500.

The final minimum order amount may depend on plant varieties, plant size, availability, destination country, and export document requirements.

For professional growers, plant retailers, and importers, we recommend requesting our current availability list first. This helps you choose the right varieties and plan your order more efficiently.

7. How can I pay for my order?

We currently accept payment by Alipay, WeChat Pay, and bank transfer.

For business-to-business wholesale orders, bank transfer is usually recommended. Payment details and order confirmation will be provided after we confirm plant availability, quantity, shipping method, and export document requirements.

Please do not send payment before the order details are confirmed by our team.

8. What is your after-sales or claim policy?

PlantHero takes product quality and order accuracy seriously.

If the issue is caused by our mistake, such as incorrect plant variety or clear order mismatch, we will take responsibility and discuss a suitable solution with the buyer, such as replacement, credit, or compensation.

For international plant shipments, some risks may be outside our control, including customs inspection, import permit issues, local clearance delays, extreme weather, carrier delays, or damage caused by long customs holding time.

To help us review any claim fairly, please contact us as soon as possible after receiving the shipment and provide clear photos or videos of the package, plant labels, and plant condition.

9. What information should I provide before requesting a quote?

To help us quote accurately and quickly, please provide the following information:

  • Your destination country or region

  • The plant varieties you are interested in

  • The quantity you need

  • Preferred plant stage: tissue culture seedlings, young plants, or mature plants

  • Whether you have an import permit

  • Whether you need a phytosanitary certificate

  • Preferred shipping method, if you already have one

The more details you provide, the faster we can confirm availability, export options, and estimated shipping costs.

10. How can I get the current availability list?

You can contact PlantHero to request our current availability list.

Please send us your destination country, target varieties, expected quantity, and preferred plant stage. Our team will check current availability and recommend suitable options for your order.
